As part of IFAD’s efforts to increasingly leverage South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) for better rural livelihoods, the Rural Solutions Portal (www.ruralsolutionsportal.org) was launched in June 2018 by the Fund.
SSTC is a key component of IFAD’s renewed business model and a priority in the eleventh replenishment of IFAD’s resources (IFAD11) period and beyond. Against this backdrop, the Rural Solutions Portal is a web-based platform to further operationalise IFAD’s SSTC Strategy (December 2016) and the Brasilia Declaration and Action Agenda on SSTC (November 2017).
Within the broader context of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, the aim of the Portal is to make successful agriculture and rural development solutions easily available to a wide ranging audience to promote sustainable and inclusive rural transformation.
The Rural Solutions Portal currently contains 31 solutions from IFAD operations on different themes and from different countries/regions. Moving forward, the Portal will be populated using content from IFAD operations as well as other development partners and organizations. All solutions currently included in the Portal were carefully reviewed and technically vetted by experts on agriculture and rural development. Similar processes will be applied for additional solutions to be included in the Portal in the future.
