The Global South-South Development Expo (GSSD Expo) 2018, a United Nations system-wide global event organized by the UN Office for South-South Cooperation, will take place from 28 – 30 November 2018 at the UN Headquarters in New York. This year’s Expo represents the tenth anniversary of showcasing developing countries’ sustainable development innovations. It will be a key milestone event before the 2019 Second High-level United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation (BAPA+40 Conference). Development and humanitarian actors, private sector and civil society representatives will be invited to discuss how to identify and promote specific South-South and Triangular Cooperation initiatives with the potential to significantly contribute to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In this context, the United Nations Rome-based Agencies (RBAs) are hosting a session entitled “From Fragility to Resilience in rural settings: the role of South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC)”, during which panelists will share insights and country experiences that can promote resilience building for strengthened rural livelihoods. The panel will be moderated by Helder da Costa, General Secretary of the g7+ Group of Fragile States, and will include high-level representatives from the RBAs and from fragile countries.
