The United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 23 September 2019 to cooperate in areas of mutual concern and enhance the effectiveness of their development efforts.
“We reconfirm today that we, as the United Nations, are stronger when we work together, said The UNOSSC Director, Jorge Chediek. “We can achieve so much more when we combine our unique skills, experiences and areas of technical competency than we could alone… We look forward to collaborating and cooperating on the shared goal of furthering sustainable development with IOM and are positive of its potential.”
Mr. Jorge Chediek and Mr. António Vitorino, Director General of IOM, signed the agreement.
In enhancing its development activities UNOSSC will facilitate and promote South-South and triangular cooperation as a means to support humane and orderly migration, and contribute further to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
